A precinct plan is a tool to guide development and land use for particular parts of the city. They are aimed at managing residential and / or employment uses and provide future planning aspirations to a block and sometimes individual property level. Precinct plans look at land use, building heights, capital works, urban design and historic landscape considerations.
In total Auckland City Council is preparing four precinct plans:
- Onehunga principal centre
- Church/Neilson
- Pt Chevalier/Western Springs
- Mt Albert.
Once complete, the plans will be given to Auckland Council for future use.
Mt Albert precinct plan
The draft Mt Albert precinct plan has been amended by the Future Planning Framework Working Party in response to feedback.
The updated precinct plan will be reported to the City Development Committee for endorsement on 12 August 2010.
