Council strategy - Economic Development

Economic Development aims to create a productive and globally connected economy for Auckland, delivering jobs, higher incomes and a better standard of living for residents.

The Economic Development map focuses on areas where employment will be supported and encouraged throughout Auckland. It includes the size and location of these areas, and the transport connections between them.

Economic Development area plan map

A range of employment and business activities will happen in employment areas, including commercial, retail, industrial and office activities. There are also mixed use areas where employment and residential activities occur side by side.

The map also shows areas where there will be clusters of specialised employment activities, such as research, marine and tourism businesses.

The map sets out the key moves (or outcomes) that the council wants to achieve for Economic Development for the future, and describes some of the projects that are underway or planned with respect to these.
